When placing your Quinella, Trifecta and First Four bets, you may wish to have more than one runner to run any of the placings. You can do this and these are called Multi’s.

Of course, the cost of the bet will increase as you are having multiple bets as one bet. After a while the number of combinations in this one bet can be easily calculated.

In the beginning, I suggest you enter your selections on your bookmakers page. The bookmakers site will tell you either how many combinations you have and for a $1 bet, that will be the bet cost. Boxing four horse in a trifecta for example can be calculated as 4 x 3 x 2 = 24 combination or $24 for the bet.

Flexi Betting

Flexi betting has become one of the best innovations in betting. When Zyrg first started punting, the minimum bet amount was 50 cents. It then increased to a $1.

With Flexi betting you can nominate the percentage of a $1 you wish to have on each combination of a Multi bet.

In the Multi bet example, our boxed four horse trifecta has a cost of $24. With Flexi betting we can nominate a bet % of 10% for example and our bet cost is $2.40.

Just remember, in this instance we would only be paid 10% of the declared dividend should our selections be correct.

CORRECT WEIGHT

Correct Weight must be declared by the racing authorities on course before you will receive your winning dividend/s

BET TYPES

In the section above we discussed bet types that applied to a single race and saw that one horse or multiple horses could be part of the investment.

Below. we will discuss both single selections and multiple selections for investments involving multiple races. While many of these types of bets are available, I will be providing information on the four most popular.

Quadrella

There are two types of quadrella bets with one simply known as the Quadrella and the other known as the Early Qaudrella. Not surprisingly, the Early Quadrella commences before the Quadrella.

Also, as the name implies, both “quaddies“ involve 4 races and to be succesful, the punter must correctly pick the winner of each of those four races.

Normally, the quadrella is conducted on the final fours races on the program with the early quadrella on the four races preceding that. If there are only 7 races on the program, the final leg of the early quadrella and the first leg of the quadrella will be the same race, Race 4.

Most players of the quadrellas will include multiple runners in each leg. The favourite combination of Zyrg is 1 runner in one “leg“ of the quaddie with 2, 3 or 4 selections in each of one of the other three legs. This tests your skill while keeping the chances of winning affordable. Simply multiply the number of selections in each leg to give you your dollar cost. With 3 selections in each leg, the calculation would be 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 which equals a bet cost of $81. And yes, Flexi betting is available here so you could have 10% of this bet for $8.10.

System Bets

Parlay bets, at one time, were hugely popular, with the drawback being that every selection had to win. You could 3, 4 5 or more legs in a parlay but have one loser and Goodnight Irene.

The parlay went out of favour with the introduction of System bets. If all your legs (selections) in a System bet won then happy days but you could still save the day if most of your legs won.

A System 2/3 for example, is a bet where you make a selection in 3 races or events for a total of 4 bets. Let’s call these selections A, B, C & D. Your bets would be,

AxBx C
AxB
AxC
BxC

I would suggest that if taking System bets that you limit them to System 2/3 and System 3/4. The odds may drift alarmingly if you place you bet to far in advance. They are best used when you need to “set and forget“ punt. If you are betting as you go, I suggest one race at a time but do you possess the courage to put the “all up“ on when the first collects are sitting in your account?

A System 3/4 would give you 10 individual bets.

If you are an extremely time poor punter or a punter looking for the Holy Grail, you might like to take the aptly named Heinz bet. You take 6 selections which distribute out to 57 bets. You get 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 quad bets, 6 five-up bets and 1 six-up bet.

One word of warning if you are taking a Heinz bet and that is check your betting providers Terms and Conditions closely to see what their maximum pay out is. Yoou don’t want to fluke a massive payout only to be told bad luck when you want to withdraw the cash.

A collect where all 6 legs win and each is priced at $2.00 you collect $716.00 for a one dollar unit.

A collect where all 6 legs win and each is priced at $5.00 you collect $46,625.00 for a one dollar unit.

If you want a Heinz bet calculator shoot me an email and I can send you an Excel spreadsheet.
